The Power of Holding On

September 28, 2025

Let somebody shout hallelujah! Our Father and our God, we want to thank You because You are the Champion of host above, our lives are in Your hands and because You live we can face tomorrow, accept our thanks, Father in the name of Jesus.

Thank You because it is by Your grace that we are what we are today, so many times the devil was determined to catch us but Lord, by Your grace You rescue us, and we want to thank You for that immeasurable grace that is sufficient for all seasons, we know by Your grace our tomorrow will be all right, we know by Your grace Lord we will overcome, and we know by Your grace Lord we will sing the songs of victory, accept our thanks in the mighty name of Jesus.

Thank You for hitherto You have help us Lord, thank You because You that has brought us this far will surely see us through, and thank You because we are left in no doubt about a better tomorrow, Lord accept our praises in the name of Jesus.

We ask Lord that You will encounter us in this service, we ask Lord that You will meet us at the points of our needs and we ask Lord that You will be involved in all our affairs in the name of Jesus. And as we continue in this service, please come along with us in Jesus name; Lord we pray that at the end of everything today, only Your name will be glorified and You will prove Yourself as usual as Lord, in Jesus mighty name we have prayed.

Good morning church, welcome to this glorious service, it is our prayers that the Lord will bless you mightily today in Jesus name. Thank you for always being there, without you we will not be here, that tells you how important and how crucial your presence and your attendance in the church at all time is to us. The Lord will continue to keep you in His grace and His love in Jesus name.

Today is the last Sunday in the month of September and that tells you that God is doing wonders in our lives, God has been faithful, He has been merciful and it’s by His grace that we are standing here today, and I pray that God will continue to renew His grace upon our lives in Jesus name.

Our declaration for next month is our month of divine enablement, and our scripture is taken from 1 Corinthians 15: 10 which talks about it is by the grace of God that we are what we are; and when you talk about grace, grace is an enabler, grace empowers, grace encourages and grace brings energy – spiritual energy, it gives us that vitality that we need to carry on. And ten represents double grace, so we are just trying to be unique and different, hence we decided to run by divine enablement. You talk about double grace, you talk about double favor, you are talking about divine enablement, and I pray in the name of Jesus that you continue to enjoy divine enablement for the rest of your life in Jesus name.

And of course tomorrow we’ll have our regular prayer chain and the theme tomorrow is ‘I am Joseph’. I pray in the name of Jesus that God will preserve your life and make you a wonder to your enemies in Jesus name. God will make you a wonder to your haters and grant you victory now and forever in Jesus name.

Luke 18: 1 – 8, “And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; 2Saying, there was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: 3And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, avenge me of mine adversary. 4And he would not for a while, but afterward he said within himself, though I fear not God, nor regard man, 5Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. 6And the Lord said, hear what the unjust judge saith. 7And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? 8I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? May God bless the reading and the hearing of His words in Jesus name.

One thing I left out before I continue with the exaltation is our thanksgiving service next week Sunday, it’s going to be a special one, it’s going to be in commemoration of our independence as a nation. So by the grace of God, we have decided to make it a cultural day, so that day, come in your best and come in your perfect dancing shoes, don’t wear something that can create problem for us and don’t wear something that can create problem for you. So come in your best, it promises to be a wonderful time and the Lord will bless every one of us mightily as you come in Jesus name.

This morning by the grace of God, I will be talking to us on “The Power of Holding On”. To hold on simply means to persevere, to hold on means to persist and of course to endure. It also involves the various ways of maintaining a positive stance, be it in the resilience in holding onto hope, perseverance in faith in difficult times.  The power of holding on emphasizes what I call the inner strength, connection with God, and the ability to navigate challenges and maintain a course through life.

The need to hold on actually hinges on the fact that nothing good in life comes easy, and the fact that God has His eternal plans for every of His creatures; the issue of time in fulfillment of destiny cannot also be easily whisked away as true children of God. In Isaiah 55: 8 & 9, it says for my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the Lord; we have different cases in the Bible that perfectly illustrate the need for believers to hold on to God and wait for His perfect timing; a man of God once said if you arrive before your time, you will expire when your own time comes.

Discipline means that there is time for everything; every cause, every accomplishment has its own appointed time and season, and I want to appeal to every one of us here this morning and those of you that are listening to us online never to succumb to pressure and the false narrative that it is already late, God’s time is the best, and my Bible tells me that He has made everything beautiful in His own time.

Therefore, it is my pleasure this morning to encourage every one of us to hold on and be persistent in your service to God, let nothing move you or discourage you. We need to take a cue from someone like Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 4: 8 & 9, he said we are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed. My prayer for every one of you is that regardless of the situations you find yourself, God will be there for you in Jesus name.

Make every effort not to be pressured to stepside God like Demas and Judas Iscariot who bowed to the quest for money and the worldly affairs and by that miss the kingdom of God. Hold on in the place of prayer brethren, be persistent in your prayer life; Luke 18, our text says men ought to pray and not to faint. I was sharing with the workers this morning that there is nothing too trivial to talk to God about, neither there is anything too big to present to God; in the local parlance they say good things require prayers, what is not good enough require prayers, and of course bad thing needs prayer to be salvaged, so nothing too trivial, nothing too much for us to committ unto God.

If you pray yesterday and you didn’t get answer to your prayers, please go back to the place of prayers today, and I want to beg us not to outsource our prayer engagement, while it is not out of place for you to go to elders, for you to go to pastors to pray for you, but never you outsource your engagement for prayers, prayer is not a commodity, prayer must not be handled like a commercial transaction.

There are ‘prophets’, there are ‘men of God’ all over the place that will tell you just pay for it, I will help you fast and pray; if somebody comes to you, he takes your money to help you fast and pray, he takes money from about 20 people, when will he have time to pray for himself? There is no room for prayer contractors as far as God’s agenda is concerned, it must not be on commercial times, but like I said, you can be prayed for; the Bible tells us in James 5:16, confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much, but not on commercial basis.

Anyone that asks you for money, anyone that ask you for anything before he prays is a contractor, and I doubt if that prayer will be answered. Hannah never gave up in the place of prayers, she was never tired going to Shiloh. When you read first Samuel 1, every year she was going to Shiloh, but a year came that God answered her prayers, a year came that she had an encounter with the God that answers prayers and her prayer was answered. I pray in the mighty name of Jesus that today God will encounter you and your prayers of many years shall be answered in Jesus name.

The widow in our text persisted in her quest for justice, even from an unrighteous judge; Jesus told the parable and He described the man involved, the judge involved as unrighteous, so when Jesus says someone is unrighteous, it means that the man was an unrighteous man par excellence; she persisted and the man said to himself, look, if I don’t answer this lady, she will wear me out. Here is the tickler, if an unrighteous judge could be so mindful of a widow’s request and opportunity, how much more of our God who is such an incomparable God in mercy, in love, in righteousness, in grace and goodwill.

The choir just ministered to the Champion of the host above and the Captain of our destiny, (they said) in Him alone we make our boast, and God reigns alone as God of all. The Bible says He has given Him a name that is above every other name, that at the mention of the name of Jesus that every knee shall bow, brethren, one of the enemies of our breakthrough is our premature resignation to fate, we often quickly, we often swiftly accept failure as God’s plans for our lives which is very far from the truth.

People try and when they fail, maybe they try again, they fail, they say, “Oh, that is the way God wish it,” who told you? It’s not true, James 1:13 tells me so, it says let no man say when is tempted, I am tempted of God; for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man; if you fail, it is probably you have not prepared enough or perhaps it is not your God’s appointed time, because every failure will not end in failure, every failure for children of God ends in success.

And I remember those days one of our lecturers told us that failure is an indication to succeed, those who fail are those who are willing to succeed, those who are not ready to exercise or to do anything, they remain where they are. It is those who have the quest for success that fail, so let it be settled that your failure will end in success.

Bartimeus in Mark 10 was despised, condemned and dishonor, but he persisted in his prayers, ‘Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me’, and eventually he got mercy, today you will get your mercy in the mighty name of Jesus. I want to tell you today that your current challenges are not meant to last because they are of the devil, 2 Corinthians 4:17 says, for our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; your current predicament, your current challenges, your current exposures are temporary, they will not last, by tomorrow you will not see them again, in fact, before the end of today, you will see them no more in the mighty name of Jesus.

The plans of God for our lives are not only good but they are durable, God has durable plans for our lives, and Psalm 30:5 says weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. Every battle, every pain, every setback has its expiry date, and something tells me this morning that someone is going to walk out of his trouble today, someone is walking out of his pains today, someone’s tears is going to be wiped away today, someone is going to enjoy open heaven today.

In Genesis 26, Isaac had an encounter with the Philistines and the king, he was directed to the land, God prospered him and he got to a point envy set him and he was asked to leave. As he left, the Bible says his servants began to dig; the first one was seized, second one was seized and they embarked on a lot of wasted efforts until they got a place where they got water and as God will have it, God put an icing on their cake, nobody contended with them and the place is called rehoboth. I pray in the mighty name of Jesus that God will take you to your rehoboth in the name of Jesus.

But one thing that you must take note of is the fact that Isaac did not fold his arm, notwithstanding the intimidation, notwithstanding the harassment, notwithstanding the wasted efforts and all the rest, he persisted, he continued. Don’t resign to fate, don’t throw in the towel, it is not over until it is over, and I can assure you that God is waiting for you to be settled and He will settle you in the name of Jesus.

Rejection or failure is not always the end of the story, and of course the story of Jephthah comes in handy; Jephthah suffered what I call outright and a dehumanizing rejection. In Judges 11: 1 – 3, his brethren conspired together and said this one will not partake in our father’s inheritance and he was thrown out, but Jephthah bounced back to rule over those who rejected him on their own valition, and in his own time, because when you go to that same judges 11: 7-13, the same set of people that cast him out, that threw him away, they went to him together with the elders and begged him, ‘we want you to come back’ and he was asking if I’m to come back what are you going to do? Everything was signed and sealed.

I decree in the mighty name of Jesus that wherever you have been rejected, you will be sought for; those who rejected you will come for you, those who say you amount to nobody, you will become a pillar in their own life in the mighty name of Jesus. Those who have written you off will come back to you and apologize to you. I am Joseph, when they come to you, (I’m not trying to preach the message for tomorrow), then you’ll be able to introduce yourself, ‘I am Tunde Netufo, the man you betrayed, the man you backstabbed, the man that you cast out, I am here’, and they will see you there and you will not take it out on them.

In the book of Isaiah 40, is an interesting book which offers a message of comfort, hope and renewed strength to the exile people of Israel, assuring them of God’s unchanging power, forgiveness, future deliverance, and so many other things, the scriptures also contrast the transient nature of humanity and the word he said with eternal incomparable nature of God who will always make a way for His people and renew their strength through the fulfillment of promises.

31But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint. They that wait upon the Lord, the power of holding on unto God, they that wait upon the Lord, God is waiting to renew your strength, God is waiting to well your way, God is waiting to put an icing on the cake, God is waiting to sort you out. But don’t allow the devil to continue with his tricks, the trick of the devil is just to discourage you and make you to lose faith, makes you to throw in the towel, ‘o don’t think it will happen again’, it will happen in your own lifetime in the mighty name of Jesus.

So the summary of my message to you today is that you should hold on to your faith regardless of the intensity of your challenges, persevere in faith and obedience, and don’t forget, and I say that again, don’t forget to carry Him along all the way. Nothing lasts forever, and as the saying goes, no condition is permanent; you may be barren today, but take note that your children are coming.

Mommy Hannah was barren but God did not only give her Samuel, He gave her five additional children, so if you are barren, your children are coming. Maybe you are jobless now, please rest assure that your job is waiting for you; you may be lonely and single today, your partner is waiting in the way; and you may be here sick, by the authority of the most high, I stand here to declare today that that sickness will not be unto death. Hold on to God, He has your back.

As I close, Psalm 37: 25 says, I have been young, and now I’m old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread; you will not beg for bread, you will not beg for what to wear in the mighty name of Jesus. God will continue to cover your nakedness in the mighty name of Jesus, your need shall be met, you will experience an overflow in the mighty name of Jesus; for every one of you that have been weeping in the corners of your room, I pray from today God will wipe away your tears, every tear shall be wiped away in the name of Jesus, every pain shall be taken away in the name of Jesus.

God is ready to open a new chapter in your life, a new chapter of praise, a new chapter of celebration, a new chapter of rejoicing, a new chapter of breakthrough, and so shall it be in the name of Jesus. However, you must embrace the One and only who has the capacity to fight and defend your cause. Romans 8:31 says, what shall we say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

I want you to pray to God this morning, ask God, Father, as I have come today, let me not go empty-handed, let me not go back home empty-handed, remember me today in the name of Jesus, meet me at the very points of my need today in the mighty name of Jesus. Thank You Father because You have answered, in Jesus mighty name we have prayed.

The next prayer we are going to pray, you’re going to ask God and say Father, please hasten my time to come, my time of celebration, my time of fulfillment, Father please hasten it, hasten my time to come in the name of Jesus. The Bible says hope deferred maketh the heart sick, pray to God Almighty that before my heart takes ill, hasten my time to come, Father please hasten my time to come in the name of Jesus. Thank You because it is done, in Jesus mighty name we have prayed.

The next prayer you are going to pray is you’re going to answer, say Father, please take away my reproach and wipe away my tears in the name of Jesus. Open your mouth and cry unto the Lord, that widow was serious with her business, she will not just take a no for an answer; she told the judge, avenge me of my enemy. Pray to God this morning, Father, take away my reproach and wipe away my tears; my tears, my financial tears, my emotional tears, my tears with regards to my health, the tears over my children, Father, in the name of Jesus, take away every reproach. Reproach coming by way of your children, reproach coming by way of your inability to get a job, your reproach in one form or the other, let God take away my reproach and wipe away my tears. Thank You because it is done, in Jesus wonderful name we have prayed.

The next prayer, you are going to cry out to God and say Father, please silence my mockers and help me to recover my lost grounds in the name of Jesus. Open your mouth and cry unto the Lord, every ground that I’ve lost, Father Almighty God, help me to recover in the name of Jesus, help me to recover every lost opportunity in the mighty name of Jesus. Thank You for everything, in Jesus mighty name we have prayed.

You are going to pray to God and say Father, launch me into my season of glory and restoration in the name of Jesus. When the judge avenged of that woman, she was restored, she was launched into glory and a season of restoration, pray to God this morning, Father in Your presence I am oh Lord, today 28th of September 2025, Lord Almighty launch me into the season of my glory and restoration in the name of Jesus. Let today mark the beginning of celebration, let it mark the beginning of restoration in every area of my life to the praise and glory of Your name. Blessed be Your name forever oh God, in Jesus mighty name we have prayed.

We have one more prayer to pray but that prayer calls for retrospection; the Bible says it is not meet to give the children bread to dogs, who are the dogs? Sinners, if you are not on the Lord’s side, you are not entitled to God’s benefits, for you to receive dividend from any company, you must be a shareholder of that company, for God to bless you, you must have a stake with Him.

Therefore, if you are here this morning, you have not given your life to Christ…

[Altar call]

And we are going to take that last prayer, that last prayer point is that Father, remove every cause of delay, every barrier, every barrier to my progress, Father take away in the name of Jesus. Remove every cause of delay in my life and accelerate my progress, everything that is causing delay, whether is unrighteousness, whether is your indolence, whether is your ignorance, whatever it is, I want you to pray to God, Father, remove every cause of delay in my life and grant me accelerated progress.

So shall it be in the name of God the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. As you have spoken in His ear so shall it be unto you, and for those of you that have come out, the gate of mercy will be open onto you, every cause of delay, the Lord will take away in the name of Jesus, and from today, God will launch you into the season of your glory and restoration in Jesus name.

For the rest of us, I pray that today will mark the beginning of a new beginning; new beginning of victory, new beginning of breakthrough, new beginning of testimonies in the mighty name of Jesus. Your latter day shall be better than the former, and whenever I hear from you, it shall be good news. So shall it be, in Jesus mighty name we have prayed.
