Great Expectations

June 28, 2026

Let someone shout hallelujah! If only to say thank You for the blood He shed for you and I on the cross of Calvary, go ahead and shout a louder hallelujah!

I am glad to be in your midst again and I like to assure you that every prayer you will say today, the Lord will answer by fire. Please, for the next 40 minutes or so, when you need to do or to say anything, let it be said in a noisy way, because after today, the whole world is going to hear your testimony.

Please lift up your two hands unto the Lord and please say after me; all my great dreams about my future, say my Father, my Father, by Your power, bring it to pass. Shall we pray in the name of Jesus? All my great dreams about my future, by Your power bring it to pass, in Jesus name we prayed.

Please allow the second prayer point to be louder than the first one. You will say my Father, every hope of my glorious tomorrow, by Your mercy, let it come to pass. Shall we please pray? In Jesus name we prayed.

I have always told my people, what your efforts cannot achieve in 24 years, the pronouncement of a spiritual father can make you achieve it in less than 24 hours. As I pray, allow your amen to roar; in the mighty name of Jesus, Lord, we worship You; You are the alpha, You are the omega, You are the beginning, You are the ending, when You speak, it is done, when You command, it will be established, You are the One who can never lie, You have never lost any war, accept our worship in Jesus name.

Lord, we appreciate the sacrifice You made on the cross of Calvary and we have come today to say thank You Lord, accept our thanks in Jesus name. I decree all your great dreams about your future, in the mighty name of Jesus, it will surely come to pass. Every hope of glorious tomorrow, I decree by the support of God, it will come to reality in the name of Jesus; because you have come to His presence today, your expectations will never be cut short. Thank You because You have answered, for we have prayed in Jesus name.

If you are so sure that your great expectations will come to reality, go ahead and shout Jesus!

In the course of my brief sermon, there are some pronouncements and declarations I will make, once you know that God is talking to you, with confidence, knowing fully well that this God cannot fail, you allow your amen to roar. There is someone here now or listening to me on the social media, I decree all your great expectations in life shall come to pass in the name of Jesus.

I’ve been mandated to speak on the topic, Great Expectations; I like to take my text from Proverbs 24: 13-14, “My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste. That is a recommendation from the Bible that you can go ahead and eat honey is good for your health. 14 So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou has found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.”

Let us also add Psalm 9: 18, it says, “For the needy shall not always be forgotten: the expectation of the poor shall not perish forever.” It is the desire of the Almighty God that every Christian, every believer has a solid dream, great dreams about his future; as you go through the journey of life, I want you to have great dreams, beautiful dreams, solid dreams about your future, and that is why I raised that first prayer point that every great dreams you have about your tomorrow, in the name that is above every other name, the mighty name of Jesus, it shall come to pass.

This dream can be the foundation of your expectation; when you have solid dream for your tomorrow, you can now use it as a foundation for your expectation in life. When you read Genesis 37: 5-7, Joseph had a dream, even though because of his dream his brethren hated him, but he told them clearly, I had a dream, in my dream, I saw my own sheaves standing and all others bow down to me.

They were wondering what is he saying? Are we going to bow down for you? And they told him, this your expectation will never come to pass, but because he had this solid dream, it became the foundation for his expectation and at the end of the day, it came to pass. May I decree to you, that dream of greatness, that dream of soaring like eagle, that dream of enlargement, that dream of becoming a global phenomena, a global champion, in the name that is above every other name, shall surely come to pass.

What are great expectations? To borrow a page from my esteemed father in the Lord, daddy G.O, to put it in a language a market woman will understand, expectation or great expectations might mean the following;

Number one, it may mean something great you are thinking of becoming in the future. If you are thinking of becoming great in the future, go ahead and shout hallelujah. Great expectation might mean something great, something beyond human comprehension, something beyond your own comprehension you are thinking of becoming in the future.

Look at the story of Joseph, even though he was the number 11 in the family, he had a great expectation that one day will come, he’s going to become a ruler, he will exercise dominion, all his brethren, including his dad and mom, will bow down to worship him. Even though they said it will never be possible, because that was his expectation, it came to pass.

I know there is someone here today, you have the expectation that one day you are going to rule, and I decree it will come to pass. Your situations now might not suggest that, what you are going through might not point to that, but I’m telling you, great expectations are something great you are thinking of becoming in future, whatever you are thinking of becoming in future, of becoming in this land, by the power of the Almighty God, it will come to pass.

Look at your neighbor, give him a high five on the seat and shout it louder, say “I am great”. If you are a prince, you may have a great expectation that a day is coming after your dad the king dies, you will ascend the throne and become a king. That is what is meant by great expectation, something great you are thinking of becoming in the future.

There is someone here even in this Lagos, nobody knows you but your expectation is that very soon you are becoming a global champion. The Lord asked me to tell you, it will come to pass. All your expectation is that very soon I must be the governor of Lagos state, who says you can’t be? Those who have been the governors don’t have two heads, if that is your expectation it will surely come to pass.

Another meaning might be, expectation can be regarded as something great you are thinking of achieving in future. When we are talking about great expectations, it refers to something great you are thinking of achieving in the future.

For example, if you are a student or you are an undergraduate, perhaps you are thinking that very soon after I finish my course, I will have BA, BSc, LLB, it might be your expectation. Whatever is your expectation, maybe in that your career, you are thinking that one day you are becoming the CEO, you are thinking that one day you are becoming that number one in that career, that expectation shall surely come to pass.

You will remember that Elisha was not originally among the sons of the prophets but he was following Elijah; he had great expectation even when his master told him that God has sent me to Bethel, to Jericho and Jordan, wait behind, don’t follow me; he said no, I will follow you, because he had the expectation that one day, the double portion of the power of Elijah will come upon him, and at the end of the day it came to pass.

I don’t know what you are hoping to achieve, the Lord asked me to tell you that your desire has been granted.

Number three, great expectation can also mean something great you are thinking of getting in the future. Maybe you have been talking to God, “Lord, we are about finishing the first quarter or the first half of this year, as we journey into the second half, this is what I want You to do for me”, maybe you are thinking of getting something in the future, maybe that is your expectation. May I decree unto you, whatever you hope to get in future, in the mighty name of Jesus shall be delivered into your hand.

For example, if you are a woman and you are pregnant, then you have an expectation that very soon people will begin to call me a mother, is that not so? May I decree to someone who is pregnant in the house, that pregnancy will not be aborted, it will result in something great.

In Genesis 25:23, the Lord spoke to Rebecca and said two nations are in your womb, I’m sure Rebecca was happy and had a great expectation that one day she will be called the mother of twins. As many as are trusting God to become a mother or a father of twins, may your expectation come to pass in the name of Jesus.

Years ago, I was invited for a crusade in Ijebu-ode, and when I was about rounding off, the Lord spoke through me and said as many of you as are trusting God for twins, come down, come out, and then dance, even if you think that you have hung your boot, if you come and join them in dancing, very soon you will have twins. I was carried away with the way they were dancing, I didn’t know when I left the altar and I joined them in dancing.

Some months later, my wife conceived; nine months after that, she gave birth to twins and I called them Elijah and Elisha. I decree, as many of you as have expectation for double miracles, may you receive in the name of Jesus.

People of God, permit me to say when we are talking about great expectation, it is anchored on hope. One thing that is essential about great expectation is hope; for you to have great expectation, you must have hope about something great, about something coming in the future.

Please don’t be hopeless, be hopeful; don’t be pessimistic, be optimistic. There is power in hope, if you have expectations, you must be a man or a woman of hope, have hope about a glorious tomorrow, I have the hope that in this nation Nigeria, I am going to excel, I have the hope that in this nation Nigeria, you will excel.

I’m not saying that those who want to check out should not go, as a matter of fact, if you approach me, I will pray for you. But I have reached the age that I’ve made up my mind, it’s too late for me to check out now, I’m not going anywhere, but by the time those who are checking out will return, they will meet me at the top. If that is your expectation, the Lord will grant you expectation, and if your expectation is to check out, I pray that God will grant you your expectation.

Expectation has to do with hope. Help me tell your neighbor, be hopeful. When there is life, there is hope; as long as you are still living, don’t give up, always be hopeful. There is no way we can talk about great expectation without hope. I want us to read Proverbs 10: 28, you will see what the scripture says, the hope of the righteous shall be gladness (if you are righteous and you hope in God, it shall be gladness): but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.

So what we are saying is that you need to be hopeful. I have seen some Christian, the way they talk, the way they behave, they are not hopeful, they don’t have faith even in their hope. The Lord asked me to tell you, there is a glorious tomorrow, a better tomorrow that is waiting for you; you don’t need to bother your head about how it will happen, all I know is that it will surely come to happen.

In Ecclesiastes 9: 4, it says, “A living dog is better than a a dead lion”; once you are still alive, nobody can bury you. The Bible even says, let everyone that has breathe shout hallelujah! Praise the Lord. All I’m saying today is that please remember that you must be hopeful, anchor your great expectations on hope.

If I begin to ask you one by one now, what are your great expectations? We may have different things, but I know some people will say my expectation is to be rich, to be wealthy, oh, it’s a good one, and I pray that you will become wealthy. But when we are talking about becoming wealthy, you know there are categories.

We were at the camp yesterday, the program with the God of daddy GO, and when it was time to make pledge, I brought out my cheque and I made a pledge. But while daddy GO was still talking, he said well, someone came to me and said daddy, I know you have passion about the project going on, what can I do so that this project can go on? Daddy said I didn’t say anything, but the man said well, check the account next week, and he first dropped 2 billion naira.

Daddy said he returned again and said, “Are you really happy with that? I still feel that you might need more,” and he dropped another 2 billion naira. Where I was, I won’t tell you what I wrote, I was ashamed, but I had great expectation that a day is coming, I too will be giving billion.

So if you have the expectation that you are becoming rich, you are becoming wealthy, you are going to become great, you are going to exercise dominion where you are, the Lord will grant your expectation in the name of Jesus.

I graduated from the university in 1989, and because I had the best result in that department, I was retained to become a graduate assistant. But in the letter of appointment handed over to me, they wrote that as a graduate assistant, you have become one of the senior staff of the university, because of that I was very happy when I was going to the department to attend the first departmental meeting for senior staff, but on getting there, I discovered that as a graduate assistant I was like a slave boy.

I met some professors, some senior lecturers, in fact, one professor said Dele, take this plate, go and buy food for me; one of them, almost all of them that day sent me on errand, that day I made up my mind that by the grace of God, before I leave this department, I will also become a professor. I had that expectation and the Lord granted it, in fact, some of them who were there that day as even lecturer 1, senior lecturer, I didn’t know how God did it, I still rose to become a professor even before them.

I pray, whatever may be your own expectation about the top, the Lord will grant it.

Before I begin to wind up, let me use the story of Bartimaeus the blind to illustrate great expectation. The story of Bartimaeus the blind is recorded in Mark 10: 46-52; that man had great expectations, I’m sure you know his story. The man was sitting by the highway side begging, he heard that Jesus Christ was passing by, he began to shout, “Jesus, Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me,” but when you read the story carefully, you discover that he had expectations.

Number one, even though he was a beggar, he had the expectation that one day he will no longer beg but be at the top, he will leave the company of beggars and then be in the company of the great. Is there anyone here who has such expectation that very soon you are going to leave the company of all others and you will join the company of the great? If you have such kind of expectation, go ahead and shout hallelujah.

He knew that the Lord has the ability to raise the beggar out of the dust and to lift off the beggar from the dunghill and then set him to sit on the throne. As it is recorded in 1st Samuel 2:8, he put his hope on that scripture, he believed that even though he was begging when Jesus was passing by, but he had the hope that very soon he will be with the company of the great.

You know when you go for some important party in government house, they will say on your invitation, if you have A+, go to somewhere, this is where you are going to be entertained; if you have A, go to this place, this is where you are going to be entertained, and at the end of the day they will say all others stay where you are. But the Lord has sent me to you, in your career, in your business, in your profession, you will leave the company ‘of all others’ and you will join the company of the great.

He had the expectation that he will no longer beg. I don’t know what you are going through now, I want you to have the expectation that very soon, what is not sufficient now will soon be more than enough; I want you to have the expectation that those who are looking down on you now, very soon they will begin to bow before you because with your expectation you will rule over them. Go and ask the brothers of Joseph, not once, not twice, not thrice, they bowed and worshipped Joseph.

Your expectation that you are leaving the company of the poor, the company of beggars to join the company of the great shall come to pass. Do you believe that God cannot fail, that God will not fail you? That your expectation will never be cut short.

This man called Bartimaeus had the expectation that one day he will leave darkness into light. You know he was blind, he couldn’t see, but he had the expectation; no wonder when they asked him to keep shut, he said I’m not going to keep shut, I had the expectation that anything called darkness will disappear from my life. If you also have the expectation that after today’s service, anything called darkness will be far away from you, go ahead and shout hallelujah.

And because he had the expectation that despite being in darkness, he will one day receive light because he knew that Jesus Christ is the light of the world, according to John 8:12 and according to John 9:4, Jesus Christ is the light of the world, he knew that if he should have this expectation and cry unto the Lord Jesus Christ, he will leave darkness unto light.

May I decree, as you are having that expectation, anything relating to darkness in your life shall disappear. And his expectation came to pass. This man called Bartimaeus had the expectation that his voice will be heard; the Lord is saying that in your company, in your career, where you are working now, you are going to become a voice.

When he was shouting, “Christ, Son of David, have mercy on me”, they told him, keep shut, do you think He will hear a wretch like you? But he increased the tempo and said Christ, Son of David, have mercy on me, and at the end of the day his voice was heard. There is someone here, as you trust God that He’s going to hear your voice today, He’s going to turn you to a voice, your voice will be heard.

How God will do it I don’t know, but what I know is that if you put your trust in Him, your voice will be heard. Jeremiah 33:3 says that call unto me, I will answer. As you have this expectation that your prayer, your voice will not go into voicemail, that God is going to hear it and answer you, something great will happen in your life.

I’ve told you before that my biological father had eight wives only, gave birth to 23 children, he contributed his quota to national productivity. But you could imagine the kind of acrimony, hatred, suspicion that will be going on in that family, so when we were growing up, nobody knew us, we were forgotten, nobody even remembered us. How we survived, is only God that knew, but today, because of the expectation that one day, as many as we are in that family I must be a voice, and today the Lord has granted my desires.

I don’t know your own heart desires, in the name that is above every other name, your desires shall be granted. Is God talking to someone? That expectation that your business will become a global business, the Lord asked me to tell you it is granted.

So even though they were telling him keep shut, but at last Jesus answered it. I can continue and continue. He had the expectation that one day heaven will stand at attention for him, and as he kept on shouting, Jesus stood still, and because He’s the Commander in chief, when He stood still, all the angels in heaven stood still for Bartimaeus the blind. Because of your expectation, before you leave this planet earth, I decree, the whole world will stand at attention for you. Go ahead and shout hallelujah!

He had the expectation that he will cast away the garment of shame, garment of delay, garment of disgrace, no wonder when Jesus asked him to come, he did not even wait for Jesus to make any decree, he cast away the garment and said you this garment of shame, I’m casting you away forever.

I don’t know what your expectation may be, do you have the expectation that God will heal you? He’s the healer, He can overrule doctor’s decision in your life, He can even overrule your parents’ decision in your life, He can place you to the top. Go ahead and shout hallelujah.

Let me begin to close. Whatever your expectation may be, if that expectation is something in this world, it will end in this world. Let your great expectation, just like some of the songs the choir sang that one day you will reign with Jesus, let your great expectation be that one day I will see Jesus. If you know that you will see Jesus, go ahead and shout hallelujah.

Because when you read the story of Bartimaeus the blind, the Bible says that he followed Jesus. I pray that in the kingdom of God, you will not be found wanting. I will see Him, I don’t know about you; I said I will see Him and I will see you there. Let that one be your great expectation.

If your expectation is to become a Prof, oh, just like I told you my story; I started,  became a Dr., they were calling me Dr., when I became Dr I said I’m not stopping there, let me become a professor, I became professor, after professor, what else do you want to become?

If you are a Doctor you will be happy, but the day you are going and you see another inscription, someone put it there and say Doctor of Watches, then you’ll be wondering what kind of doctor I’ve been, sharing this name with someone who is just ordinary watch repairer and he’s calling himself Doctor of Watches, you discover that whatever you become in this world you may never be satisfied. Let your great expectation be that one day we shall reign with Jesus.

If you agree with me that you are going to end well, that your journey will not end here on earth, that one day you shall reign with Jesus, go ahead and shout hallelujah.

I don’t know what your expectations may be, but the Lord asked me to tell you, your expectation will never be cut short. As long as you have hope in Christ, it shall surely come to pass. That is what God asked me to tell you today. Continue to be hopeful, don’t give up, but if you want your great expectation to turn to reality, behave like Bartimaeus;

Number one, he had faith in God. Because Jesus Christ told Bartimaeus, “Thy faith has made thee whole,” as you have this expectation, as you have the desire, you support it with faith; they that trust God shall be as Mount Zion which can never be removed, but abidethed for ever, Psalm 125: 1. Tell your neighbor have faith in God.

Then support your expectation with prayer. When they asked Bartimaeus to keep quiet, he prayed, he prayed violently. I will still ask you to say one prayer now and I want you to say it violently.

And number three, if you want your great expectation to come to reality, always listen to testimony of what God is doing to others and then get ready to share your testimony. All I know is that your expectations will never be cut short and it shall surely come to pass.

Please rise to your feet. You are going to pray, I want you to shout Jesus, you will shout it loud and clear. It’s just one prayer point, this is how I want you to pray, you will say God, I have great expectation that one day I will become great by Your power, make me great; I have great expectation that one day my star will shine at home and shine abroad, make me a shining star; I have an expectation that You will enlarge me, You will enlarge my goals, Father, enlarge me.

I have expectation that what is not sufficient now will soon be more than enough, Father, prove in my life that You are Jehovah El-Shaddai. Shout the name Jesus and begin to pray. The expectation of the righteous shall not be cut short, the hope of the righteous shall produce gladness, I have the expectation that one day I will rule my world, I have the expectation that my light will shine. In Jesus name we prayed.

You know in that story of Bartimaeus, at the end of the day God gave him a blank cheque; the Lord is saying He wants to give you a blank cheque and every expectation you have, write it on that blank cheque and after that I will pray. Are you ready?

He asked him what do you want me to do for you? The Lord is saying I can make your expectation to become reality, are you ready to fill your blank cheque? Whatever you want relating to your expectation, you tell Him, be specific, act like Hannah, don’t just say, “God, I want a child,” Hannah said I want a male child.” Are you ready?

Shout the name Jesus and begin to fill your blank cheque, continue to pray. Whatever you want, what are your expectations? What are you expecting in the second half of the year? Tell God what are your expectations over your children, over your career, over your family, He can bring your expectation to pass, in Jesus name we prayed.

Please stretch forth your two hands towards the altar and as I pray, allow your amen to roar. In the name of Jesus, I hereby decree that all your dreams about your future, in the name that is above every other name, the mighty name of Jesus, shall come to pass. Every dream destroyer saying those great dream will not come to pass, Father disgrace them in the name of Jesus.

Every hope you have about your glorious tomorrow, in the name of Jesus it shall come to pass. All your heart desires, the Lord will grant in the name of Jesus. Expectation of greatness, expectation of fruitfulness, expectation of expansion, expectation of enlargement, expectation of increase, expectation of good health, receive in the name of Jesus. Among your colleagues you will be a voice, your light will shine at home and shine abroad, the Lord will lift you higher in the name of Jesus.

The great expectation that one day you will reign with Christ, it shall come to pass, you will not miss heaven. Whatever you have written on your blank cheque, before the end of June, in the name of Jesus, it will become testimonies. It shall be well with you, you will go forward. So shall it be.

Lord, I pray for our pastor in this province, let it be well with him, let it be well with his wife, let it be well with his team, always remember him for good. Thank You because You have answered, for we have prayed in Jesus name.

Turn to someone and tell him or her, my great expectation is that I will see you in heaven. Then go ahead and shout hallelujah! Shout hallelujah!
